NGVU – Podgorica
Marina Markovic was born in Belgrade, Serbia, in 1983. She earned her B.A. and M.A. in painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade. Markovic is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in New Media at the University of Belgrade. Since 2006 she has exhibited extensively at various festivals, art fairs, group and solo exhibitions throughout Serbia, the United States, Great Britain, Japan, Italy, Mexico, and beyond. Markovic participated in artist-in-residence programs at ISCP (The International Studio & Curatorial Program) in New York, ZETA in Tirana, and Q21 MuseumsQuartier in Vienna. She is the recipient of the Young Visual Artist Award and Dimitrije Basicevic Mangelos Award for 2011. and the Vladimir Veličković drawing awards for 2021. Her works are included in various private and public art collections worldwide. In 2022. her work has been added to Secondary Archive, a platform for women artists from Central and Eastern Europe (https://secondaryarchive.org/artists/marina-markovic/) exhibited in Manifesta 14. She is a co-founder of Naked Art Residency, international art- ist-in-residence program in Gola Glava, Serbia. Markovic is a lecturer in Performance Studies at The Faculty of Media and Communicationsin Belgrade. Represented by X Vitamin gallery (Belgrade) and NGVU (Podgorica). She lives and works between Belgrade and Paris.
